Chapter IV chapter 3 continuation

She can't sleep she can't stop thinking about him. Carefully not to wake Aubrey she went outside the bedroom and went straight into the kitchen to get some fresh water. She turned on the lights and a strong cold wind opened the kitchen window. She unconsciously hugged herself by her arms as she felt the temperature changed. She peeked outside until a sudden voice behind stunt her she turned her back and saw Quen standing and smiling at her. 

"Here wear this" Quen said and offered his jacket. "Thank you" Devon's reply. She put on the jacket and her nose caught the manly smell of his perfume and made her blush. Then it rained hard. The power went out that distracted them for a second then Quen walked towards Devon and reached for the opened window to close it pinning Devon from him and the kitchen counter. Foe a second Quen's face was above her head and the tip of her nose touched his neck and they were chest to chest. She could smell the scent of his perfume and his natural scent. He was like hugging her and they were in that position for a long second. Quen is having a hard time reaching and closing the window with her in front of him that is. Then Quen moved to her side so he can easily closed the window. After the window was successfully closed she breathed with relief. She is certain that he is teasing her and it is making her crazy as hell. Quen stood in front of her a few inches apart and said "Is it not cold anymore?" Devon nodded. "Don't be afraid. I'm here" Quen continued innocently while rubbing the side of her arms with his warm hands. 

Devon realized their position is just awkward "I'm not afarid" Devon's voice was cold and she stepped away from him walking towards the door. "Don't leave…Stay….I'll make us some hot coco." Quen inviting her to stay. His voice is so sweet and the hot coco so inviting and in this cold weather that his offer is difficult to resist. "Hot coco is good" Devon beamed and the sight of it made Quen's heart jump. He offered her a seat to the kitchen stool his gestures is like treating her like a princess. It made her blush and made her heart beating fast. She watched him prepare the hot coco while he talked about how he used to cook and make coco himself while he was studying in the states. She already know the story, Aubrey told her but it was still nice to know from him himself.

Quen was ten when Aubrey and his parents separated. After the separation Quen's father worked abroad and continued his career there. He still finds time to communicate and send support for Quen and Aubrey. And by the time Quen was ready for college his father asked him to stay with him and pursue his college career there in Washington. At first he didn't want to but at the end he gave his father a chance to get to know him. For the first year he was there it wasn't as bad as he expected it would be. Every time his father has a free time he would spend it with him and school was good. He made a couple of friends filipino and american. He even had a girlfriend but not in a serious way.  Until his father dated most of his free time he spent it with his girlfriend. Quen didn't mind  his father having a relationship he just wish that he could at least make time for him. Being lonely made living in the states worse. He misses his sister and mother, his closest friends and the weather in the Philippines. After a long talk with his dad about going back home he convinced him.

"Ok your turn. Tell me about yourself, and how's your family like?" 

"Well I love to write. I really want to become a writer and i love simple things. And about my family they're far away from normal. My mom recently have this hobby of collecting antiques stuffing our house w/ old and creepy, big tables, jars, cabinets etc. Redecorating the whole house. Our house is more like an antique shop and smells like it too. While my dad spends all day in our garage fixing his vintage car. And then there's my brother stalking his ex wife left him for another woman." Devon sighed. "I'd say your family is quite unique" Quen said and let out a little chuckle. Devon chuckled too. "Yeah. That's what i keep telling myself. They're far from normal but they have a good heart and i love them." "I'd love to meet your family someday." Quen paused for a moment. Did Kyle already met your family?" Devon looked at Quen and for awhile there she thought she saw a small frown form his lips when he mentioned Kyle's name. "Kyle is my first boyfriend. When he courted me at that time I still wasn't interested with having a boyfriend. My focus was just on my studies. He didn't give up, made friends with my not so normal family. Him gets along with them really well and that shocked me because Kyle and his family is totally different from mine. That's how I fell in love with him. He me and especially my not so normal family with respect…I'm lucky to have him." Devon and Quen stared at each other. In Devon's mind she's curious on what Quen is thinking after her revelation. And on Quens mind he's saying how lucky Kyle is to have her and he is so damn jealous. 

"Devon? Are you in the Kitchen?" Aubrey's voice echoed coming outside the kitchen door. "Oh my god. What time is it?" Devon covered her mouth and gaze her eyes to the kitchen clock. It's already four on the wall clock. "We totally didn't notice the time. I better go. Thank you for the hot coco it's delicious and thanks for the company." Devon said while hurrying herself up to get to Aubrey. She's avoiding the chance of Aubrey seeing her with her brother in the kitchen just the two of them at four o'clock in the morning. She thinks the idea might be weird to Aubrey. Quen just smiled and when Devon is already half way to the door he grabbed  her arm and let her face him. Standing a foot from her he lowered his face to hers and kiss her cheek and whispered "Good night and Thank you" to her ear then he hugged her softly and became a bit tight. Devon a startled couldn't think of anything to say but good night and thank you also. And she too hugged him. After a long second she released herself from him turned away and went through the door. Quen smiled. 

"Your already up?" Aubrey squinting her eyes still sleepy asked Devon when she went out of the kitchen. "No, I just got up and got myself some water." Devon lied. And it didn't escape Quen from overhearing it his face frowned and sighed heavily. "Oh okay. Let's go back to sleep na." Before she went and followed Aubrey she took a look at the kitchen door thinking if Quen heard what she had said.                   

Chapter 3

Chapter III 2 yrs. ago from the present…

Welcome back party for Quen

"Welcome back pare. Miss you bro!" Pierro pretending teary-eyed "Ikaw talaga. Loko-loko ka pa rin" natutuwang sabi ni Quen sabay yakap sa bestfriend. "Seriously bro miss ko din kayo" niyakap na din nya ang ibang kaibigan pati na si Kyle. "Kumusta na Kyle sino bang bagong biktima natin ngayon?" tanong ni Quen. "Ha! One woman man na yan si Kyle ngayon." sabat ni Pierro. "Sino naman ang swerteng babae?" Quen asked. "Hindi mo kilala? Bestfriend ng kapatid mo. Si Devon" Sa narinig biglang naalala ni Quen ang nangyari kanina lang bago magsimula ang party…

Earlier before the party started...

Nagbibihis si Devon sa kwarto ni Aubrey habang si Aubrey naman ay nasa banyo at abala sa pagmemake-up kakagaling lang kasi nila sa school kaya wala na syang oras para umuwi sa kanila at magprepare para sa party. Kaya naisipan na lang din ni Devon na sa bahay na ni Aubrey matulog. 

Devon is having trouble zipping up her party dress at nakalimutan niyang ilock ang pinto sa pagmamadali. "Bes matagal ka pa ba dyan? I need your help!" tawag ni Devon kay Aubrey. "I'll be out in a minute" sagot ni Aubrey. 

Sa kabilang kwarto naman ready na si Quen sa party naisipan nyang puntahan ang kapatid nito sa kanyang kwarto at yayayaing sabay na silang bumaba para iwelcome ang mga guest. 

When Quen opened the door he immediately closed it but not that much. Nabigla sya sa kanyang nakita. Isang babae with her bare back facing him. His heart raised dahil sa nakita. Alam nyang hindi ito ang kapatid. At thank God hindi sya napansin ng babae sa isip ni Quen. Binuksan nya ulit ang pinto. hindi nya alam kung bakit but he did. 

When he open the door again nakita nyang nahihirapang ito sa pag zip ng kanyang dress. Quen watched her for a long second. Napansin nya ang magandang kurba ng likod nito from her nape to the bottom of her waist and did the unthinkable he went towards her. He can't help it parang may pwersang nagtutulak sa kanya para lapitan ito at amoyin at haplosin ang balikat nito. He's definitely not on his right mind. He hesitated for a second but went for it instead. He went towards her and helped her zip up her dress. "Here let me help you" Quen said to Devon like a whisper. Devon stopped moving when she heard his soft whisper and felt the guys hand cupped her hand from the back and put it down to her sides. She was about to shout but she couldn't after she felt the back of his hand on her back sliding up while zipping her dresss up. May kung electricity na nagpaweaken sa katawan ni Devon dahil lang sa paglapat ng kamay ng lalaki sa balat nya. Hindi nya alam kung bakit pero lumambot ang puso nya. On a split second after he is done Quen closed his eyes and smelled the girls hair he felt a kind of comfort and wanted to do more than smelling his hair. He wanted to hug her right then. Devon felt the tip of the guys nose touch the back of her head and his hands on the sides of her hips. Natigilan sila sa kakaibang naramdaman ng madinig ang pagbukas ng pinto sa banyo.

"Nagkakakilala na kami kanina. Aubrey introduced her to me bago magsimula ang party." Quen left out the details kung paano sila nagkakilala. He thought its embarassing and a bad idea since Kyle is there. "So what do you think of her" Kyle asked Quen. He paused for a moment he thought of the smell of her hair, her nice curved back, her gorgeous bottom, her beautiful face, the sensation he felt when his hand touched her skin then instead he said. "She's fine" pagkasabi he drank from his beer at na realized nyang he's attracted to her. The girlfriend of her friend. And a sign flashed on his mind KEEP OUT. While Kyle put a big grin on his face like a proud boyfriend and said "I know. She's more than fine man, she's beautiful, hot, funny, smart, kind, spunky. She's different from the girls i have dated man. She's something." Bago pa tuluyan madala si Kyle sumabat na si Pierro "Yeah. alam namin. We are so proud of you pare" bashful while patting Kyle's back. Nagkatawanan ang mga lalaki except Quen. He felt jealous and is so obvious on the look of his face. Hindi naman ito napansin ng mga kaibigan. 

On the other side Devon and Aubrey are busy chatting with the other girls. Kinukwento ni Aubrey ang buhay ng kuya nya sa America. Everyone is engrossed on her story and Devon is also. She could not help but blush on the thought of him and what had happened to them earlier. It was embarassing but it felt good. She pushed the thoughts of him at the back of her mind and scanned the room for her boyfriend.  Ng makita nya si Kyle facing his back to her she smiled masaya itong nakikipagusap sa mga kaibigan. Nabaling ang kanyang tingin sa lalaking kausap ni Kyle si Quen at nagulat sya dahil nakatitig ito sa kanya. Nagkatinginan silang dalawa. Hindi nya mabasa ang sinasabi ng mukha nito kaya she looked away and turn to Aubrey after a few seconds she still feels that his staring and when she looked back to him again indeed he still is. 

She felt awkward and excused herself to the powder room. Quen noticed her making her way to the powder room. Ito ang kanina pa nya hinihintay ang ma solo si Devon for him to apologize that is sa nagawa nya kanina. He's not planning on doing anything that could be trouble. So he also excused himself from the guys and he followed Devon. 

Kanina lang he could not help himself but stare at her. Her beautiful face, her sparkly eyes, those white teeth and cute lips. His thoughts of what happened a while ago. The smell of her hair, the softness of her skin the feel of her hips perfectly on his palms. The feel of his bottom to his center. Whoa! He's a pervert. He thought to himself.

Nakita ni Quen ang pagpasok ni Devon sa powder room kaya he waited outside of the room. He's pacing back and forth He's nervous thinking of what to say first. And the thought of her lips what would it taste like popped on his mind. He's definitely being a douch he said on his mind. He's here to apologize that's it nothing else assuring himself. 

Ilang minuto na ang nakalipas at hindi pa din lumalabas si Devon. Nagaalala na si Quen. Hindi nya napaigilan ang sarili at kumatok sya sa pintuan. "Hey Devon is everything okay in there? It's me Quen". Sa pagkatok ng pinto nagulat si Devon. "What the hell?" she continued on her thoughts. ano namang ginagawa nya sa labas? sinundan nya ba ako?…Her heart is pounding hindi nya alam ang sasabihin at takot din syang lumabas at harapin ang lalaki. "Uhm..yeah." She finally opened the door. 

"Hi." he said.

"Hi." she said.

"You okay?"

"Yeah."

"Good. uhm… i just wanted to opologize about what happened earlier. I was totally outta' line. Just popping in on you like that. And without your permission to help you. I sincerely apologize" Quen looked like a shy boy while scratching the back of his head apologizing. Devon let out a giggle then said "It's okay it's not my room and i'ts my fault i forgot to lock the door. And thank you for helping me on that dress." she smiled at him that melted his heart. She knows she's stupid for not being mad about the zipping up the dress thing but she is so overwhelmed by the impact of what it done. She can't help but smile. "I owe you a drink" said Quen. "Sure" Devon said. Quen lead her to the bar and Devon felt his palm toch her back and there is that feeling again of comfort and heat. She smiled and he noticed that made his heart swell and put a smile on his face. They looked like a couple while walking towards the bar while not removing his hand on her back. Someone noticed.

Chapter 2

Chapter II

Pagkatapos ng araw na iyon parang wala lang ding nangyari. Ang akala ni Devon ay kukulitin na naman siya ni Quen para makausap sya. Gaya ng dati. Aaminin nya she was hoping to get a call from Quen about what happened yesterday pero ni text ay wala. She's dissapointed sa sarili nya dahil hindi nya mapigilan ang magpaapekto sa lalaking yun. Mali kasi…Lingid sa kaalaman ni Devon ay ang buong pagpipigil ni Quen sa sarili para hindi sya tawagan o itext man lang tungkol sa nangyari. Dati kasi noong una nya itong kulitin ay Isang buwan din syang iniwasan ng dalaga ni hindi ito nagpakita sa kanya. Hindi nya kayang maulit iyon. Mas gusto pa nya itong makita sa malayo kahit hindi sya kausapin nito.

After two weeks hindi pa rin sila nagkausap o nagkita pero na sa isip pa rin nila ang isat-isa…

Nasa Mall si Devon tumitingin ng damit para sa party mamaya. Birthday kasi ni Aubrey. Hindi nya inaasahan na makasalubong si Kyle ang kanyang ex boyfriend. Magaapat na buwan na silang hiwalay pero nananatili pa rin silang magkaibigan. "Devon?" tawag pansin ni Kyle sa kanya…"Kyle?…Hi what a coincidence?"…"Oo nga eh noh. Ikaw lang mag-isa?" tanong ni Kyle…"Yeah bibili pa ako ng damit para sa party ni Aubrey mamaya. Are you going?"…"Yeah i got the invitation. Quen invited me. Seems pretty big that's why I have to buy a new suite."…"Oo nga eh. Alam mo naman." at nagkatawanan sila sa huli…Mayaman ang angkan nila Quen marami silang kaibigan na Politicians at High-So sa bansa. Malaki ang nasabing party kaya for sure imbitado din ang mga ito…"So may date ka na ba sa party?" tanong ni Kyle sa kanya…"Date? Wala no. Baka ikaw dyan" panunukso ni Devon…"Wala. Gusto mo tayo na lang. Friendly date lang naman."…Wala namang malisya kaya pumayag na rin si Devon. Tinulungan na sya ni Kyle pumili ng damit gaya ng nakagawian noong sila pa pero iba na ngayon magkaibigan na lang talaga sila. Ginaganap ang party sa isang five star hotel. Kinakabahan si Devon pumasok siguradong magwawala na naman ang kanyang puso kung nya makita si Quen. Buti na lang at kasama nya si Kyle. Somehow may kausap sya throughout the party. Iniiwasan nya kasing maulit ang nangyari noong isang linggo. Nakaupo na sila sa table ng mapansin ni Kyle na parang may hinahanap sya…"Sinong hinahanap mo?"…"Ha? ako? ah ah uhm si Aubrey kasi excited na akong makita sya."…"Aaahhh mamaya pa yun. Malamang special introduction sya."…"Oo nga noh." natawa na lang sya sa sarili. Kanina pa kasi hindi sya mapakali. Sino nga ba kasing hinahanap nya. Aaminin nya si Quen ang hinahanap nya. "No" saway sa sarili…Who is she kidding? She misses him…

Samantalang sa kabilang side ng venue ay may nilalang na nilalamon na ng selos. "Nagkabalikan na ba sila?" tanong nya sa sarili...Gusto nyang lapitan si Kyle at suntukin ito at ilayo si Devon sa kanya. Wala syang pakialam kung magalit man si Devon. Pinipigilan lang nya ang kanyang sarili alam nyang mali dahil party ng kanyang kapatid at isa pa wala syang karapatan….Samantalang kanina pa sya napapansin na nakatitig kay Devon at Kyle ni Trina…"So siya ba?" galit na tanong ni Trina…"Ha?" takang tanong ni Quen na nakatitig pa rin kay Devon. "So sya nga. Kailan pa?" medyo malakas na ang boses ni Trina kaya binalingan nya ito. "Anong kailan pa?" wala pa ring idea sa sinasabi ng nobya…"Comm'on honey huwag mo ng itanggi. Kaya pala palagi na lang may mali sa akin dahil kinukompara mo ako sa ibang babae. Si Devon ba? siya ba ha? Siya ba ang babae mo?" galit na mangiyakngiyak na tanong ni Trina sa kasintahan…"Trina pls. not now. Nasa party tayo." pinapakalma ang nobya…"Not now? Screw you!" sigaw ni Trina na nakaagaw pansin sa ilang bisita. Tumayo sya at tumakbo palabas ng venue habang umiiyak. Sinundan naman siya ng nobyo. "Trina! Wait!" habol ni Quen. "Its over Quen. Wala ng tayo!…Tama nga sila hanggang three months lang tayo…pero at least ako ang nakipagbreak" umiiyak pa rin ito at bago tuluyang tumalikod paalis ay may pahabol pa siya. "It's her right? that's why your relationships don't last long because it's not her that your with?" hindi nya hinintay na sagutin siya kasi obvious naman ang totoo. At tuluyan na nyang iniwan si Quen na sa hanggang ngayon ay tulala pa rin dahil sa sinabi ni Trina sa kanya. Alam nya pero sinusubukan nya ibaling ang pagmamahal sa ibang babae. Pero kahit ano ang gawin nya at kahit sino pang babae wala pa ring makakapalit sa pagmamahal niya kay Devon. 

DevQuen FF chapter 1

Chapter I

Seryosong nagrereview si Aubrey para sa exam nila bukas habang si Devon naman ay abalang nakatitig kay Quen na nasa pool area at nakatitig din ito sa kanya…"Bes! Behhhsss??!! Hoy! Devon Grace Lindy Balongbalo Tamayo! Huy!" buong pangalang tawag sa kanya ng kanya bes na nakapagbalik sa kanyang huwisyo. Naiinis kasi sya na tinatawag sya sa kanyang buong pangalan. Bakit naman kasi naisipan ng kanyang mga magulang na habaan ang kanyang pangalan? grrr…"Ano ba bes! nakakainis ka naman eh. Alam mo naman na ayaw ko tawagin ako sa buo kong pangalan."… "Eh kasi naman po kanina pa kita tinatawag eh hindi mo naman pinapansin. Pinagnanasaan mo nanam si Pierro nakakahiya ka talaga!"…"Eh ano naman nakakahiya sa ginagawa ko. Ikaw lang naman ang nakakakita ah" sagot nya na may halong pagbibiro…"Ah ganoon. Gusto mo puntahan ko si Pierro at sabihin ko sa kanya na kanina mo pa sya pinagnanasaan? ha?" pananakot ni Aubrey sabay tayo upang puntahan si Pierro…"At pinagnanasaan talaga ang term na ginamit? ha?" kinikiliti na ni Devon si Aubrey. Nakikiliti naman si Aubrey kaya hindi nito magawang lumapit kay Pierro. At hanggang sa nagkatawanan na lang silang mag best friend sabay balik sa pagrereview…Sa totoo lang hindi si Pierro ang kanina pa tinitigan ni Maribeth kundi si Quen ang nakakatandang kapatid ni Aubrey.

Sa pool area naman…"Kumusta na kayo ni Trina pare" tanong ni Pierro…"Ayoko na, masyado syang selosa. Pati ba naman si Mrs. Martin. pinagseselosan nya" maktol ni Quen sa kaibigan…"Ano?! pati si Mrs. Martin? eh pare maganda si Mrs. Martin pero ang tanda tanda na nun. May topak yata yang girlfriend mo eh?"…"Pare naman girlfriend ko pa rin yun"…"Sorry pare hind na mauulit" paumanhin ni Pierro…"Kasalanan ko ba kung paborito ako ni Mrs. Martin? at tsaka hindi naman ako ang lumalapit sa mga babae sila ang kusang lumalapit sa akin" paliwanag ni Quen…"Pare paranoid lang yun kasi magthre-three months na kayo. Alam mo naman sa past relationships mo umaabot lang hanggang three months. Alam na ng buong campus ang tungkol sa three-months rule mo"…Natawa na lang si Quen habang titig na titig kay Devon na abalang nagrereview sa living area.

Three-months rule? actually wala naman talagang three-months rule. Ugali kasi nya na pag may nakita syang hindi maganda sa girlfriend eh hinihiwalayan na nya ito at tyempo naman pag magthre-three months na sila. Ilan na nga ba ang naging relationship nay na umabot lang hanggang three months?..Apat, yup apat na exes na…Pero ang mga past girlfriends nga ba nya ang may problema o sya?

Masyadong mainit na sa labas kaya naisipan nila Quen at Pierro na pumasok na sa loob ng bahay. "Hi girls!" bati ni Pierro kay Aubrey at Devon…"Hi! hi!" utal utal na pagsagot ni Devon na iniwas kaagad ang tingin kay Pierro at binaling kaagad ang paningin sa pagbabasa. Sa totoo lang hindi si Pierro ang iniiwasan nya kundi si Quen nakatitig kasi ito sa kanya. Di sya makapagconcentrate. Si Pierro naman ay tumabi sa kanya…"Kailangan nyo ba ng tulong? alok ni Pierro sa kanila. Nanlisik naman ang mata ni Quen sa pagtabi ni Pierro sa babae…"Ay hindi na kaya na namin toh. Maabala ka pa. Salamat." pagtanggi ni Devon. "Sure?" tanong ni Quen kay Devon na may halong pangiinis. "Tiningnan nya si Quen at nagtama ang kanilang paningin. parehong blanko ang kanilang expression. binawi nya agad ang tingin dahil hindi na kaya ng puso nya parang sasabog ang kanya dibdib sa lakas ng tibok nito…"Yup sure" tango ni Devon sabay ngiti ky Pierro. "Okay." ganti ni Pierro sabay ngiti din. Samantalang si Quen naman ay hindi nagugustuhan ang ngitian ng dalawa…."Why the hell does she smile like that to him?" inis na tanong ni Quen sa sarili…Samantalang kanina pa walang imik si Aubrey dahil pansin nya ang pagtitig ng kuya nya ky Devon. Nahihiwagaan sya sa mga titig ng mga mata nito at sa expression ng mukha nito habang nakatingin ky Devon at Pierro. Hindi sya sigurado pero mukhang may idea na sya kung bakit. Lumiwanag ang kanyang mga mata na may pilyang ngiti sa labi sa napagtanto…"Excuse me kuha lang ako ng tubig" excuse ni Devon…"Ako na." sabay sabay alok nila Pierro at Quen. Nagkatinginan naman sila sabay ding baling ky Devon ng magsalita ito. "No. Ako na. Salamat." Nginitian nya si Pierro pero si Quen ay tinitigan nya lang at nagpatuloy na sya papuntang kusina. Nainis si Quen sa ginawa ni Devon kayat sinundan nya ito. Nagtaka man ay binaliwala na lang ni Pierro ang pagsunod ni Quen kay Devon at kinausap na lang si Aubrey.

Sa kusina…"What was that?" inis na tanong ni Quen kay Devon na nagulat dahil sa biglang pagsulpot ni Quen sa likuran nya…"Ano ka ba? Bat ka ba nangugulat ng ganyan?" sabay harap sa lalaki habang hawak ang dibdib habol ang hininga…"And what was what?" tanong ni Devon…kumuha si Quen ng baso at nilagyan ito ng tubig.."Here and I'm sorry" paumanhin nya habang inaabot ang baso ng tubig ky Devon. Tinungga ni Devon ang baso ng tubig pagkatapos ay huminga ng malalim. Babalik na sana sya sa living area pero pinigilan sya ni Quen hawak ang kamay nya…"Please stay. Let's talk." hindi pa nakontento si Quen at bigla na lang nyang kinabig si Devon…"Please Quen there's nothing to talk about" pagpupumiglas ni Devon pero nahihina sya dhail sa pagdikit ng kanilang mga katawan. Yakap na sya ni Quen ng mahigpit sa beywang samantalang ang mga kamay naman nya ay kumakapit sa dibdib ni Quen dahil nanghihina na ang kanyang tuhod. Damang dama ni Devon ang init ng hininga ni Quen sa mukha nya. One inch lang kasi ang layo ng kanilang mga mukha sa isat-isa…"What about what happened between us? Are you just gonna pretend that it didn't happen? And don't tell me you didn't like it. It happened twice don't try to deny it.
